Dumb-founded in Happiness

Painting by Seija Zaman

Perhaps when you see someone happy it teaches you more about happiness than if you were happy yourself. You see things from a distance and you notice that actually, no, you don’t need to reach your arm out that far to attain joy. You walk into joy gleefully as if into a fluffy cloud that dry cleans you. You come out smiling from ear to ear and maybe even giggles burst out of you. Or better yet, happiness walks into and through you while you just stand there dumb-founded. Drops of it everywhere. Forming into mist that remain on a wavelength you can ride, that remain on your eye level, that gather so willingly to be more visible to you so you can’t miss out. You cannot. So, look the other way if you want. Look away from happiness if you feel it’s too hard to attain, because even if you look away – you aren’t.
